WOW! What a great summer! It sure flew by and now it’s time to regroup and get back on a schedule! For as long as I can remember I set my goals in the fall. (It usually coincides with the end of one horse show season and setting goals for next year!)
I’m sure many of you have been busy too, with enjoying every last bit of summer, getting kids organized for school and yourself back to a regular work routine. But what else do you want/need to fit into your week? What are your goals? Time for yourself? Maybe it’s time to shake up your fitness routine, or just some alone time? Do you need to bump up your food and supplements as you head into winter?
Write down your top 5. Just the big idea. You can break it down later.
Here are my fall goals;
1. Sleep
2. Fitness
3. Food
4. Supplements
5. Art
Now what are your top 2?
1. Supplements
2. Art
I was surprised at my top two but then again… maybe not. I have been putting my art aside for the last couple of years. Time for that gift to myself. And I typically get sidelined with a couple of colds over the winter months. Time for a plan that will help me with my goals. All of the them! I mean I’m going to eat and I’m going to sleep. Can they be better? Absolutely!
My strategy to reach my goals….
1. Sleep – what will it take to get better sleep. Assess and change my environment, quiet time before bed and regular adjustments (I’ve always found that I sleep better after a great adjustment!)
2. Fitness – ugg. I’m not a big fan of the gym. I ride, I like yoga. What do I really need to focus on? What will help me be a better rider?
3. Food – I actually have found that I like to cook again. So I’m seeking new, healthier recipes.
4. Supplements – plan for them! Set a routine and yes… a pill box if necessary! Seek help. Kayleigh and Dr. Craig are great at this!
5. Art – Well if this truly is my priority then I need to give it its own special time in the schedule and let others know that it’s my time.
See? Not so bad when you break it down! Did I set huge goals? Maybe not. But I wrote down what is important to me. And if I make this commitment to myself it will fit in with the many many other things that are in my schedule! I used to buy myself a great agenda each fall. Yes I prefer the old school way of writing it down! It also gives me a place for creative notes, mini goals and special dates with friends and family.
So there’s my fall goals. This school year make sure you don’t forget your schedule!
Don’t get overwhelmed or derailed at the first fork in the road. Life happens!
